People live here!

Lofoten is very international rural society with many friendly people! The problem is, sooo many visitors show misplaced or disrespectful behaviour. And with many millions visiting Lofoten every year, it’s really hard to feel positive.

Trust us, it would not be in these lists, if it didn’t happen.

To do:

  • Smile, but don’t talk if you don’t have to.
  • Clean trash after yourself, help us preserve the nature.
  • Feel free to pet our cat, if it approaches you.
  • Please be considerate to private property. No fence does not automatically mean public access to a land. Especially in the center of a village.

Don’t:

  • Don’t be loud, please, many people wake up as early as 3am to go to work the next day, yes also on weekends, especially during the fishing season.
  • Don’t feed our cat, however stray it might look like (especially norwegian forrest cat), your food can cause the poor animal to suffer diarrhea and other problems after you leave.
  • Don’t take photos of your neighbors house or their kids (or anybody elses kids).
  • Don’t stare into your neighbors windows.
